END OF LIFE VEHICLES (ELV)

Through the introduction of the ELV Regulations issued in 2003 and 2005 and through the Environmental Permitting (EP) Regulations 2010 the British government has undertaken the task of delivering measures to comply with the EU Directive 2000/53/EC – the “ELV Directive”. This means that vehicles, (cars, light vans & MPVs), which have reached the end of their useful life will need to go through various stages of de-pollution and component recovery prior to shredding.

Through our links with UK Shredders Ltd, S.Norton are at the forefront of providing these compliance services. Vehicle de-pollution technology is currently in use at our Manchester & Liverpool sites to meet the requirements of the directive. We are providing a first class service to car manufacturers, last owners of End of Life Vehicles and to motor vehicle dismantlers or other scrap merchants involved in this aspect of recycling.
