March 2007

The Company has achieved accreditation to the ISO 9001:2000 quality standard. After just 11 months, the hard work paid off and the company received accreditation with no open issues from the VCA at the close of the audit, becoming the first metal recyclers to achieve accreditation with this company in the process.

February 2008:

The Company recently had it’s first annual surveillance review from the VCA to assess it’s continued compliance with ISO 9001:2000. 12 months of self assessment and performance monitoring has led to the Company again receiving no open issues from the Auditor.

March 2008:

S. Norton & Co. Ltd. have successfully bid for the scrap removal contract at the Toyota facilities in both Deeside and Burnaston. This demanding contract has required the company to expand it’s wagon fleet and employ additional drivers to ensure we maintain the quality of service expected of us. It is hoped that this contract will boost the image of the company within the industry.

April 2008:

The Company is pleased to announce the commencement of operations at Berth 109 at the Western Dock in Southampton. The yard will be open for business from Monday 2nd June and will receive material prior to overseas export. Before opening, extensive concreting and drainage works were required at the site and is now fully operational and awaiting it’s first deep-sea vessel.

April 2009 – Continued

Norton has received its latest award in recognition of its consistent growth in exports in the three years from 2005 to 2007, in which its export business grew by £39 million, an increase of more than 30%. In the same period, the company has expanded its UK operations with investments in new facilities and technologies, and an 18% increase in the workforce in Liverpool and Manchester.
